LIBRARY CARDS
All residents of Decatur County, 6 years of age and older, are entitled to a free Library card. Non-residents who work in Decatur County are currently entitled to a free Library card. Inquire at main circulation desk. The replacement charge for lost cards is $1.00.
Non-residents who do not work in Decatur County may purchase a GPL card at the cost of $30. This card is good for one year.
We do require some identification with your current address in order to receive your card.
Examples of acceptable identification include:
- Driver's license or State ID card
- Receipt with your name and address (i.e. utility bill or rent receipt)
- Envelope addressed to you at your current residence with a cancelled postmark.
- Paycheck stub
- W-2
Children under the age of 14 must have a parent's signature on their library card application.
Public Library Access Card
(PLAC)About PLAC
The PLAC is a library card that allows the holder to borrow materials from any public library in the state of Indiana.
Anyone with a valid library card in good standing from any Indiana Public Library is eligible for a PLAC.
The fee for a PLAC is currently $26/year.
PLAC is an individual card not a family card.
PLAC holders must follow the rules of each library they use and assume responsibility for all materials borrowed. This includes paying for lost or damaged materials and overdue fines.
PLAC & GPL
Decatur County residents may purchase a PLAC from GPL, with these guidelines:
Must have a valid library card through GPL or have the necessary ID to apply for one.
Library Card must be in good standing with no long overdue items or fines.
Residents in a district not served by a library may purchase a card at GPL. In addition to the PLAC fee, they must first purchase a public library card at the library of their choice.
